Day of Prayer 2008

In conjunction with the General Council's designated Week of Prayer and in preparation for this year in the Coast Counties Section a DAY OF PRAYER is being called for Thursday, January 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marina Assembly of God.

James 5:16 exhorts us to "pray one for another that ye may be healed." We will participate in devotions, personal prayer, public prayer, and corporate prayer.

All credentialed persons and spouses are encouraged to participate.

Christmas Dinner

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Make your plans to attend the annual Coast Counties Section Christmas dinner Monday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. First Assembly of God in Salinas will host this event.

SPECIAL GUEST: Nathan Fort, humorist extrordinaire

The evening includes dinner, give-aways, music, and entertainment. All of this for $15/person. Teen Challenge employees and World Missions pastors pay only $12/person.

CHURCH RELEVANCE IN THIS GENERATION

Coast Counties Section will hold a three-part seminar to address Church Relevance in this Generation. Each part is scheduled on a different date and after a meal together. Nationally-renowned guests have been invited to provide insight to ministers of all ages. The requested donation from each attendee is surprisingly affordable.

DAY OF PRAYER

Believers knew what to do when Peter suffered imprisonment by the Jews. Scripture says that "many people had gathered and were praying." This time of prayer was NOT personal prayer; it was corporate prayer. These people were under one roof praying for a need affecting the entire church.

Different local assemblies are one church with many needs. Pastors, staffs and lay-members are encouraged to participate in our "Sectional Day of Prayer". It has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bethel Tabernacle in Watsonville.

BIENNIAL SECTIONAL TOUR

Our District Executive Officers will meet with credentialed ministers and church delegates of the section on Thursday, January 4. Green Valley Christian Center in Watsonville will host the 6:30 p.m. dinner. Participants can anticipate a wonderful roast beef dinner, great fellowship with other ministers, and a short business meeting.

Included in the business meeting will be district reporting, a presentation of vision, and the election of sectional officers.

RSVP’s are needed by Tuesday, January 2. Call (831) 728-1424. A $7.50 donation is requested for each dinner.

CHRISTMAS DINNER 2006

Bethany University in Scotts Valley will host the 2006 Coast Counties Section Christmas Dinner on Monday, December 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pete McLeod, comedian and illusionist will provide some amazing and very funny entertainment for the evening.

Credentialed ministers, Bethany University administrators, faculty, and staff, and Teen Challenge leaders are invited to enjoy this great evening together. CHURCH SIZE TRANSITIONS

Challenge, frustration, or maybe just realization.Many pastors and church leaders, including laity, have “tried everything” to encourage their local church to grow – without lasting results.

The percentage of Assemblies of God churches under 200 has remained the same (16%) for the past twenty years.

Coast Counties Section will present Church Size Transitions with Dr. Jimmie Brewer on Friday, November 10 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monterey Assembly of God is the host church.

Dr. Brewer, who serves as the Program Director for the School of Church Leadership Ministries at Bethany University will direct a discussion to help participants lead their churches with perspective and confidence.
